Areas of Impact

Early Career Researchers

The labor of research is carried out by graduate students and postdocs. But institutions and funding agencies rarely know who the people they employ and fund are. We empower ECRs by gathering, analyzing, and disseminating data on this population.

Inclusive and Equitable Environments

Research has shown that teams which incorporate diverse perspectives and backgrounds develop unique and novel ways of solving problems. Lightoller works to develop new strategies and best practices in STEM education and research training, to promote and support ever more inclusive and equitable environments.

Working with organizations to include the next generation

Lightoller transforms organizations using evidence-based policies to create inclusive and equitable environments. By working with organizations thoughtfully and systematically Lightoller aims to help them, and the people they support, to succeed.

“I got into science to work on really big problems. After witnessing colleagues' frustrations with unequal pay, stymied career development, lack of diversity and other issues, I realized that the biggest problem to solve could be the academic system itself.”
